Privacy policy

Last updated 29 August 2026

We keep this short and specific. If anything here is unclear, write to us and we will explain it in plain terms.

1. Who is responsible

AJL Consulting GmbH, c/o Constant Dialog AG, Alte Steinhauserstrasse 33, 6330 Cham, Switzerland, is the controller for the personal data described here.

Company identification number: CHE-378.126.700

Contact for anything to do with your data: [email protected]

2. Which law applies

We are based in Switzerland, so the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection applies to us. Because we market and sell to people in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation and the UK GDPR also apply to that processing. Where the two differ, we apply the stricter standard.

If you are a California resident, section 12 applies to you as well.

3. What we collect, why, and on what basis

When you subscribe or join the waiting list

Name and email address, the page you signed up on, the date and time, and your IP address at the moment of signing up. Optionally the number of properties you manage, if you tell us.

We use this to send you the newsletter and to tell you when the Academy opens. The basis is your consent. The IP address and timestamp are kept as proof that consent was given, which is both a legal requirement and our legitimate interest in being able to demonstrate it.

When you buy the Academy or another programme

Name, billing address, email address, company name and VAT number where applicable, the products you bought, and your payment and invoice history. Card details are handled by our payment provider and never reach us.

We need this to perform the contract with you and to comply with our legal obligations under Swiss accounting and tax law.

When you use the member area

Your login details, which modules you have opened, your progress, and anything you enter into the worksheets and calculators. This is contract performance. We do not sell, publish or share your business figures with anyone.

When you book a call

Name, email address, the time you chose, and whatever you write in the booking form. Contract performance, or, before a contract exists, our legitimate interest in responding to your enquiry.

When you email us or message us

The content of the message and your contact details, so that we can reply and keep a record of what was agreed. Legitimate interest, or contract performance if you are a client.

When you visit the site

Your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visited and where you came from. This is technically necessary to deliver the site and to keep it secure. Legitimate interest.

When we send you email

We can see whether an email was opened and which links were clicked. We use this to understand which content is useful and to stop sending to addresses that never engage. The basis is your consent where consent is required, otherwise our legitimate interest. You can object at any time, and unsubscribing stops it entirely.

Contact details we already held

Some of the contact details we hold were collected before we moved to our current systems. They come from our previous newsletter platform, from our previous customer relationship system, from conversations and business cards at industry events, and from professional business networks and publicly available business sources.

We use business contact details of professionals working in the short-term rental industry to send information relevant to their work. The basis is our legitimate interest in reaching professionals in our own sector, and, where we have it, your consent.

You can object at any time, every email carries an unsubscribe link, and if you would rather we did not hold your details at all, write to us and we will delete them.

4. Who else sees your data

We use a small number of service providers. They act on our instructions and are bound by contract.

5. Data leaving Switzerland and the EEA

Most of the providers above are in the United States. Where we transfer personal data there, we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses together with the addendum recognised by the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, and, where the provider is certified, on the EU-US and Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework.

You can ask us which mechanism applies to a specific provider and we will tell you.

6. Cookies and tracking

Our pages set cookies that are necessary to make forms, logins and the purchase process work, and to keep the site secure. These do not require your consent and you cannot turn them off without breaking the site.

Links in our emails are routed through a tracking address so that we can count opens and clicks. This is described in section 3 and unsubscribing stops it.

We do not currently run advertising or profiling cookies. If that changes, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.

7. Embedded podcast players

Pages that carry the podcast may embed players from YouTube, Spotify and Apple. These providers can receive your IP address and set cookies as soon as the player loads, before you press play. We load these players in a privacy-preserving mode where the provider offers one, and otherwise only after you have agreed.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict what we do with it, or hand it to another provider. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests, and you can withdraw consent at any time without affecting what we did before you withdrew it.

Write to [email protected]. We answer within thirty days and we do not charge for it.

Every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link. One click is enough.

10. Complaints

In Switzerland you can complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern.

In the EEA you can complain to the supervisory authority where you live or work. In the United Kingdom, to the Information Commissioner's Office.

We would rather you came to us first, but that is your choice and it does not affect your right to complain.

11. Security

We use encrypted connections, access controls and two-factor authentication where our providers support it. No system is perfect. If something goes wrong that puts you at risk, we will tell you and the relevant authority within the time the law requires.

12. California residents

We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act. You have the right to know what we hold, to have it deleted, to correct it, and not to be treated differently for exercising those rights. Use the same address as in section 9.

13. Automated decisions

We do not make decisions about you by automated means that produce legal effects. We do sort our contact records by interest and engagement, which affects which emails you receive and nothing else.

14. Children

Our products are for professionals. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under sixteen.

15. Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Where the change matters, we will tell you by email.
